BLOCKAGE MONITORING NOW AVAILABLE FOR FLOATERS

Recon SpreadSense® equips applicators with new technology

FARGO, ND (August 22, 2018) — Intelligent Agricultural Solutions, LLC (Intelligent Ag), a leader in electronics innovations for modern farming, announces the release of Recon SpreadSense®, the industry’s first blockage monitor for boom-type dry fertilizer applicators, commonly referred to as “floaters.”

Utilizing the same acoustic technology developed for other Recon monitoring systems, Recon SpreadSense provides reliable real-time blockage detection. Using a simple adhesive, the sensors are easy to install on the back of each deflector, so there is no disruption to product flow. Recon SpreadSense is currently compatible with AGCO AirSpread, AGCO AirMax, and Case Flex-Air systems, and the company plans to support more systems in the future.

Since Intelligent Ag released the first Recon monitoring system in 2011 (the Recon Wireless Blockage and Flow Monitor for air seeders), the company has received countless testimonies from growers about the peace of mind it gives them. Knowing that product is being distributed evenly and accurately provides reassurance that growers are minimizing inputs and maximizing efficiency. With this in mind, the engineers at Intelligent Ag set out to develop a similar solution for floaters.

The acoustic sensor on each deflector listens to the material flow and sends sound pulses through auditory tubes, similar to a stethoscope. The data is collected by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which displays the information on an iPad® in the cab. If there’s a blockage anywhere in the system, the operator will know.

“The benefit to operators is they can ensure even distribution of product across the floater,” said Joe Heilman, General Manager at Intelligent Ag. “By not having to visually detect flow issues, they can extend their run time into low-light conditions, and ultimately increase productivity. For co-ops, this also means avoiding costly settlements due to application mistakes caused by undetected blockages,” Heilman added.

Like all Intelligent Ag products, Recon SpreadSense is easy to install and built to last. Installation is very straightforward and can be completed by an Intelligent Ag dealer or by the end user. Recon SpreadSense is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping in January 2019. Contact sales@intelligentag.com for more information.
